In 2003 Rabbi Geoff founded Tizmoret Emanu-El Ensemble with members of his congregation to enhance Qabbalat Shabbat services during Daylight Savings Time, when services began before sunset. Rabbi Geoff played drums, percussion, bongos and congas. The group disbanded in 2006.

Together with Cantor Aryeh Finklestein of Congregation Mishkan Tefila, Rabbi Geoff founded The Rhythm and Jews Band with members of his new congregation in 2008 and launched Mishkan Shabbat (Sanctuary of Shabbat), a music-filled Qabbalat Shabbat service at which he plays percussion, bongos, congas and the djembe.
